Document

A legal document that serves as evidence for values of the catalog, together with an archived copy of it.

The archived copy is the exact file the catalog was compiled from. It is never replaced: a new version of a document is a new document with its own id.

id: ID!: The stable id of the document within the catalog, for example bgbl-2025-i-278.
type: DocumentType!: The kind of document.
title: String!: The official title.
shortTitle: String: The official short title, or null if the document has none.
abbreviation: String: The official abbreviation, for example SGB IV, or null if the document has none.
documentDate: LocalDate!: The date on which the document was signed (Ausfertigungsdatum).
promulgationDate: LocalDate!: The date on which the document was promulgated (Verkündungsdatum).
citation: String!: The official citation, for example BGBl. 2025 I Nr. 278.
sourceUrl: String!: The URL the document was retrieved from at the publisher.

This URL is outside the control of this catalog and may stop working; use archiveUrl for a permanent copy.
archiveUrl: String!: The permanent URL of the archived copy served by this API.

The URL is absolute, requires no authentication and always returns the same bytes, so it can be handed to an auditor as is. The content matches sha256 and sizeBytes, and the response carries sha256 as its ETag.
retrievedAt: DateTime!: The point in time at which the archived copy was retrieved from sourceUrl.
mediaType: String!: The media type of the archived copy, for example application/pdf.
sizeBytes: Int!: The size of the archived copy in bytes.
sha256: String!: The SHA-256 checksum of the archived copy, as 64 lower-case hexadecimal digits.
